Why Your Weight Loss Efforts Will Be Naught Without Proper Nutrition

What do obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure have in common? They are caused by a lack of proper nutrition. Buying healthy foods at the grocery store is not the answer. Why? Because the food we get from grocery stores is filled with chemicals, preservatives and pesticides, and are lacking in nutritional value. Many of the foods purchased at grocery stores are chemically prepared and as a result can cause a variety of health problems including obesity. In addition, many stores carry a variety of weight loss products. These weight loss products do not work. Weight loss products do not provide the nutrients needed to lose weight and stay healthy. These products can be addictive and even life threatening. When a person stops taking a diet supplement, they regain the weight that was lost. Furthermore, being overweight leads to many different health problems. These health problems lead to the usage of medications which in turn have side effects of their own. How does this happen? First of all, keep in mind that the government regulates all three industries: food, weight loss and pharmaceuticals. Second, the food industry produces products which lack nutritional value, which in turn causes people to gain weight and develop other health issues. At this point, the weight loss and pharmaceutical companies get involved. The weight control companies sell products to people with the promise of losing weight and feeling healthy; however, these products do not work. If they did, the companies would end up bankrupt. Lastly, the chemicals, preservatives and pesticides found in the foods we eat can lead to various diseases such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes as well as other health problems. The drug companies are ready to step in with solutions to these problems with new drugs. Of course, these drugs also have side effects that can cause more health problems. The food companies, the weight control companies and the drug industry work together by giving people food that leads to obesity and other health issues. Subsequently, these companies offer only one solution to these health problems and that is drugs. Of course these drugs come with their own list of side effects. Why do these companies work in this manner? The bottom line is money. How do we get the nutrition we need? The following four major components are needed to achieve proper nutrition and remain at a healthy weight. Water Water is essential. We cannot live without water. It is important to drink water every day for several reasons. First and foremost, water keeps your body hydrated. This is important because when you are hydrated the toxins in your skin are flushed out. In addition, water prevents the skin from losing moisture and becoming dry. Secondly, water helps flush out toxins in the body which aids in the loss of weight. It also flushes out waste which results in the person feeling better and the body being able to function better. Carbohydrates and Fats The body’s most important energy supplies are carbohydrates and fats. The body’s need for calories depends on an individual’s size, age and activity level. In addition, teenagers, children and babies need to take in a sufficient amount of calories for appropriate development and growth. Protein Protein is a necessary nutrient. Protein is required to heal and restore body tissue and to promote growth. In addition, it helps keep up the immune system by preventing infections. When a person does not get enough protein, a person can have difficulty overcoming illness. In addition, a lack of protein can result in an increased risk of infection for people having surgery or chemotherapy. For example, a cancer patient who is going through a radiation or chemotherapy treatment may require up to 50% more protein than someone who is not receiving treatment. Vitamins and Minerals Vitamins and minerals provide us with proper nutrition. They are needed to carry out a variety of essential jobs the body performs in order to keep us healthy. A person needs vitamins and minerals to ensure the body grows and develops in the proper way. In addition, they are needed to help the body make use of the energy found in food. Generally, if a person eats a balanced diet as well as gets a sufficient amount of protein and calories, then a person is able to acquire enough vitamins and minerals. However, it is very difficult to get the necessary nutrition needed because of the foods available today. Therefore, people must use natural supplements as part of their diet. |

Dr. Ernest Wynder of the American Health Foundation claims that most human malignancies are related to our “civilized way of living.” At a conference on nutrition and cancer attended by over 1,000 physicians and dieticians, Dr. Wynder and others stated that cancer is closely related to dietary factors, in addition to the other recognized causes such as smoking, food additives or industrial by-products. A study showed that animals fed synthetic foods tended to develop increased tumors. It was also felt that some cancer may be partially determined by the eating habits of persons in their youth.
